Boston – April 03, 2007

Filed under: Music, Taylor Hicks — peaches @ 3:22 pm

Normally, I wouldn’t cross-post the “jazzed-up, in-the-moment” setlist here, but since I wrote it tonight I figured I could.

Setlist – Boston, Avalon (Theatre?)

Opening: Toby Lightman, her first night on the tour

8:34 EST – Soul Finger

Heaven Knows (I just love Sitar)
- Ain’t That Peculiar

Ooh – funky Boogie beat. Disco-y. Brian G wails into …

Maze
- Want Ads
- Rough God Goes Riding (slammed … against the headlights!!)
- Let’s Get It On

—- Waves crashing on the beach … such a romantic picture. Too bad I am now deaf. (Sorry – it’s bad poetry night ) Of course now I’m humming Tom Petty.

Give Me Tonight

banter banter “Soul Patrol!!” blah blah (sorry, can’t make it out)

Compared To What
- Goin’ Up the Country (of course in Taylor speak it’s “to”)
- What the hell is that? <—- Mystery Tag
– Evidently doing something cute as I can clearly hear giggles over the phone
- Shout

Wherever I Lay My Hat
– Growl, “break their hearts” …
– “ooohhh”
- Nightshift (someone in the crowd jumped the gun, HA!)
- Chain Gang

Um, what? Intro’s DMA (much in the same way he said “Mmmmissus Taylor Hicks on GoFish”), but then he announces …

Just To Feel That Way

“This is a tune here I wrote – It’s called Heart and Soul.”
— “Everybody say “Yeah!”
- Brown Eyed Handsome Man (Milo Venus …)
- Can’t Trust Your Neighbor
- Brown Eyed Handsome Man (Flyin’ ‘cross the desert … baseball game. Lots of baseball tonight. Go Red Sox!!)
- It’s Too Funky In Here

Dream Myself Awake

“Soul Patrol!!” (breath) “This is an old Rod Stewart tune.”

Young Turks

HOLY CRAP!!

Somehow (Yes – That’s right … Some. How.)
- Reworked, beautifully done … obviously been practicing/working on this one.
- Love ya’, Taylor – signed, The Boogie

“Let’s get naked!” Wait a beat, crowd screams (Amy enters a rather provocative typo which she immediately fixes, but not before a good giggle on her part). “In the jungle!!”

Naked in the Jungle (interesting follow-up)
- Shhhhh
- Speak Out
- Scatting, jiving, dancing – people screaming
— HARP!! Knees Harp!!!!
- Speak out! Speak out speak out speak out!!

“This is an original tune here … it’s called Soul Thing!”
- Shotgun Man
- Night Life

“This is a tune off the record …”
The Right Place
— I count 7 heart-stopping “Be There!”’s – drives the crowd WILD!!!!
— Be there, Taylor!
— Ultra-pretty Loren ending (I love it more each time)

The Runaround
— Harpity, harpity, harp, harp, harp
- Big Boss Man

Screaming, crying, whooping, hollering – general bedlam demanding that The Man come back to the stage and finish off the audience.

Whipped into a frenzy – He has that Power, and wields it nightly. Taylor = He-Man? :bogg:

Woo-Hoo!!

Encore
Amy’s favorite: Badge
— Ooh yeah … sang it, baybee!

– Canned music (Hit the Road Jack), 9:54 EST.

  1. my GOD Amy. This is like… my heart, internal organs, brain and brain cavity, gray (cheese!) matter incarnate and manifest. In your blog, in your words.

Reading your words has me reliving every sexelectric moment of those two nights in Alexandria and Baltimore. The experiences we are sharing with one another all seem to be couched in these mystical, cosmic terms… it’s incredible, gray voodoo magic.

Can you tell me about Mmmmissus Taylor Hicks? *chews lips into mouth, tongue implodes* LOL

  2. Well hello! I’m very glad you liked it!

Amazing isn’t it? That he can produce these feelings over the telephone? It’s no wonder the actual experience of being there is so powerful.

Did you see the GoFish videos where people got to ask Taylor questions? The Mmmmissus Taylor Hicks thing is from one where he thanked the fans. I’ll send you a link. ;)

  3. Hi there AmyH. “Liked” it is quite the understatement. I am glancing nervously over your sidebar and all the tempting “tags” I see there… I am so utterly boondoggled by all of this wonderful information and music.

I saw and favorited that video on GoFish today—thank you SO much for the link—it really made my… milennium. I was babbling about it over dinner and was interrupted by the question, “did you score some speed last night?” *mom stares at me pointedly*

Yes, Mom… of a sort. I scored it all right. From the Boogie Man.
