Damned if you do, damned if you don’t
Sometimes, being an admin means you can’t express your real and true opinion … at least not without facing a virtual firing squad.
When you are an Admin, people form their opinions of what that should mean so far as your behavior online. To many of them it means I should back each and every choice Taylor Hicks makes without question. It means that even though I dislike Grease and wish Taylor would just be done with it already, I should keep that to myself and hip-hip-hooray the freaking play.
Well, I can’t do that. So what I have done is basically just bow out of the Grease discussions. Other people are loving it so why steal their joy and poop on their fun?
Apparently, that is no good either. This has been interpreted as my being “bored with Taylor” and I “need to move on.”
WTF?
If I’m not a pompom shaking, everything-Taylor-touches-is-perfection, Taylor’s-farts-are-not-just-in-tune-they-also-smell-like-lilacs fan, then I am NOT a “real” fan.
WTF??
The funniest thing? There is a pompom shaking, everything-Taylor-touches-is-perfection, Taylor’s-farts-are-not-just-in-tune-they-also-smell-like-lilacs Admin on another site and you know what? She catches flack for that.
Again – WTF???

so true. just damn. there’s always someone somewhere just waiting to dump on you no matter what you say or do. why can’t everyone just like what they like or not and to hell with “someone” and their snotty opinion! grrrrr! btw, not lilacs, more like a field of Spring-time lavender!

Amy ~ I’m a little late to this blog.
But I have to say not all Taylor’s fans are asking you to be ‘happy happy joy joy’ about Grease. I’m certainly not! Many of us aren’t happy about the Grease gig being extended. Your backing off on commenting on ‘that’ topic is not a bad thing at all. Anyone that tells you different is 100% wrong.
To be a fan does not man you have to appreciate every path an artist may take. All you can hope for is one day that artist will return to what you liked best about them.
I understand your struggle on the Admin/ mod role and ‘my view’ divide. I have been there before and I KNOW it is not an easy thing to deal with.
The only advice I can give is let fans be the fans they want to be and still hold true to your views. As an Admin you can actually moderate and not even touch on your own view of the topic…I’ve done it for a long time on the boards I have been involved with.
I am not sure you will let this post through especially because of my view on cellcerts.
Nonetheless, I wanted to tell you I understand how you feel about trying to please everyone.
